Normanby & Owmby Jubilee Committee

Minutes of the meeting held on 30 April 2022 at 4.00pm

At The Church of St Peter and St Paul

 

 

1.

Welcome

 

The Acting Chair welcomed member of the Committee and members of the public to the meeting.

 

 

2.

Recording of meeting

 

It was confirmed that no members of the public wished to record the meeting.

 

 

3.

Apologies received

 

Apologies were received from Barbara Moulson and Parish Clerk, Julie Haycraft.

 

The meeting was attended by Ruth Elliott, Sara Carter, Daniel Clinch, Darren Swift and Isabelle Brooke.

 

In the absence of the Parish Clerk, minutes were taken by Isabelle Brooke.

 

 

4.

Introduction of the Committee

 

The Acting Chair confirmed that the members of the Committee had been confirmed by the two Parish Councils as:

Isabelle Brooke and Darren Swift representing Owmby Parish Council

Ruth Elliott and Daniel Clinch representing Normanby Parish Council

Sara Carter, Owmby resident and Barbara Moulson, Normanby resident.

 

 

5.

Election of Chair

 

Chair: Ruth Elliott was nominated as Chair.

Proposed by Darren Swift,

Seconded by Isabelle Brooke.

Election of Vice Chair

 

Vice Chair: Sara Carter was nominated as Vice Chair.

Proposed by Isabelle Brooke

Seconded by Darren Swift

 

 

 

 

7.

Overview of Grant Application and Project Plans

 

Normanby PC applied for a Jubilee Grant for a Jamboree evening event and an afternoon Big Lunch Picnic, first and second choices respectively from the consultation, and was awarded £700

 

The plan for the day would be:

 

  • A parade around the villages
  • Big Lunch Picnic on the Community Park (Bring you own picnic, tea, coffee and cake provided)
  • Fancy Dress for children – on stage
  • Side Show games (as per Fun Day & Fete)
  • Sports Day games for younger children
  • Field games (e.g football-based) for older children/teenagers
  • Evening Hog Roast
  • Live band

 

Owmby PC applied for a grant revolving around the Queen’s Green Canopy initiative and was awarded £700.

 

The grant will be used in the following way:

 

  • Improve the Highgate Lane entrance path to make the Wildlife area and the park as a whole more accessible.
  • Planting of native trees

 

 

8.

Public Participation

 

The Chair asked if those members of the public who were attending the formal meeting had any questions or wished to make any statements and was told none did.

 

 

 

There being no further business for the formal meeting, it closed at 4.10

 

 

 

Following the close of the formal meeting, there was an informal meeting at which residents were invited to review the plans for the Jubilee celebration and volunteers to help on the day were sought. The informal meeting was attended by 39 residents.
