OWMBY & NORMANBY COMMUNITY PARK COMMITTEE

MINUTES OF THE MEETING HELD ON 4 APRIL 2019, 7.15pm

1. Apologies:

2. Minutes of the previous meeting

The minutes of the previous meeting, held on 28 January 2019, were approved as a correct record and signed by the Chairman.

3. Matters arising, not covered on the agenda

The Chairman reported that a question had arisen about the status of the Committee, i.e. whether it is a Sub-Committee of the two Parish Councils. It was agreed that he clarify the position with the two Parish Council Chairmen.

4. Future status of the Committee

It was agreed to request a joint meeting with the members of the two Parish Councils to discuss the Committee’s work for the next year and to have the Terms of Reference ratified. The Chairman to write to the Parish Council Chairmen to arrange.

5. The field

The field has now been seeded. It was agreed that advice be sought regarding future maintenance requirement of the grass. It is proposed that funding for this is discussed with the Parish Councils as a matter of urgency.

The Committee is still awaiting payment of the grant from West Lindsey District Council, money which was for the purchase of a notice board for outside the field.

It was decided to purchase the notice from existing funds pending receipt of the grant.

6. Fundraising

It was agreed that, for the sake of clarity, there should be a differentiation made between fund-raising and grant applications.

Grant applications update

Co-op: Voting by Co-op members underway. Appeal for votes to be made on Facebook.

Market Rasen Tesco: Green disc collection underway.

National Lottery:

Prince’s Countryside Fund: More community involvement recommended.

West Lindey District Council £500 grant still received. To be followed up.

7. Future Events

Quiz evening:

Suggested venue, Normanby School. Possible date in June. KH to draft quiz questions and speak to School Head Mistress.

Horse Race Evening:

Graham Crompton-Howe offered to help. Possible date in May. Possible venue, Bottle & Glass. Discussion needed.

Grand Opening of the Field:

Date in August, Bank Holiday suggested. (Subsequent to meeting

Suggested events: Children’s races, fun dog show, tug-of-war, music, fish and chips van, ice cream van. Enquiries to be made. Other village event organisers to be contacted for advice/help.
